CELEBRATE THE JOY OF READING!

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible Read Across America volunteers for participating on March 6th, 2024! Thanks to the dedication of 31 volunteers, we had the honor of reading to nearly 1,500 first-grade students across Decatur City and Morgan County Schools. This remarkable event, spanning 19 schools and 73 classrooms, not only emphasized the importance of reading but made it enjoyable for the students. Our volunteers not only read books from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library but also provided each first-grade classroom with a gifted book, courtesy of our generous Book Sponsor, Daikin.

Read Across America is normally held around Dr. Seuss' birthday, March 2nd. The day recognizes the value of literacy. It calls all children and youth in every community across the United States to celebrate reading. This is an easy and fun way for volunteers to get engaged and spend time celebrating reading with local children.
